Report of the Attorney General.
This Draft Bill for the amendment of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank Ordinance has been prepared in accordance with the suggestions contained in my Minute upon the Application of the Court of Directors, referred to me by H. E. the Governor (C. S. ().
No. 1861.)
I have added in the margin of the sections, a reference to the despatches in which their provisions were originally directed to be inserted in the Principal Ordinance and also to the Articles of the Deed of Settlement in which they were allowed to be in- serted in lieu of disturbing the Ordinance which had already been passed, as explained in my Minute.
I am of opinion that this Ordinance is a desirable one and am not aware of any legal objection to its being passed by the Colonial Legislature.
J. PAUNCEFOTE, Attorney General.
Hongkong, 3rd July, 1878.
